The University is seeking to appoint a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (People and Culture) to provide leadership across the University in this area.
THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE COLLEGIATE UNIVERSITY ONLY

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (People and Culture) is one of several fractional positions with specific responsibilities. The Pro-Vice-Chancellors will be responsible for taking forward the strategic priorities agreed in the final Strategic Plan 2025-30, as well as providing senior leadership for the policies and strategy in their remit. They will have ultimate accountability for the delivery of strategic objectives within their portfolio. This will include setting objectives for, and strategic leadership of, the professional services supporting their activities.

As the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (People and Culture), you will have oversight of people-related matters in the University, working in partnership with the HR Director and Chief Diversity Officer to deliver and advance strategies in this area and providing senior academic leadership in shaping the University’s culture. You will chair the University’s People Committee and serve on other relevant University committees. You will represent the University in national and international forums, including acting as the institutional lead for pension matters and supporting the HR Director in engaging with the recognised trade unions to promote constructive staff relations.

To apply for this role, you should have the ability to lead the implementation and evolution of the University’s People and EDI strategies by working effectively with senior colleagues and administrative offices across the collegiate University. You should have the ability and academic standing to gain and retain the confidence of the academic community as a whole. You should have familiarity with human resources policy and practice, pay and reward frameworks, and employment law as they apply to the higher education sector. You should possess excellent collaborative and negotiating skills which will enable you to build consensus and maintain positive relationships with staff. You should be able to demonstrate advanced administrative experience, including of chairing major committees effectively.
