The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are recruiting a full-time Project Manager, reporting to Professor Michael Browning, to work across two projects, a UK-wide cohort study of patients with depression assessed in research clinics and a programme of experimental studies using neuromodulation studies in non-clinical populations.

About the Role

The post is funded to 31 January 2028 in the first instance and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. Due to the nature of the post the post holder would need to be on site full time.

You will independently scope, plan, and manage detailed project plans to ensure delivery of key outcomes within agreed timelines and University standards. This includes leading project teams, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring sufficient resourcing to meet project objectives.

You will act as the primary operational contact across internal and external collaborators, building and maintaining effective relationships with academics, NHS partners, third-party vendors, industry partners and funders, and coordinating project meetings, working groups and committees.

You will monitor project milestones and overall progress, identify risks or scope changes, implement corrective actions, manage project budgets and produce regular updates, written reports and presentations to support decision-making and committee reporting.

About You

You will have a degree-level education (or equivalent experience) and excellent administrative and project-management skills, with experience managing multiple duties within academic settings including clinical studies. With experience of coordinating clinical activity across sites and partners, you will have demonstrable experience of budget monitoring and financial management, and strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex data and provide actionable insights.

You will be able to identify and resolve problems proactively, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills (including report writing and presentations), and show high levels of organisation, decision-making and attention to detail. Experience of clinical trials, an interest in mental health delivery research, and experience working with patients with depression would be desirable.
