About the opportunity

This is a Targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position. While we welcome applications from all candidates, this is a targeted role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Project Officer supports the delivery of key initiatives within the Indigenous Strategy and Services portfolio, contributing to the One Sydney, Many People strategy. You will join a collaborative, high‑performing team and play a central role in coordinating project activities, stakeholder engagement, and culturally responsive project delivery. Your work will directly support outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students, and communities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work closely with internal and external stakeholders across multiple project workstreams
  • provide project management support including planning, scoping, scheduling and coordination of activities
  • develop and maintain project plans, timelines, reports and governance documentation
  • monitor budgets and financials, preparing expenditure reports and identifying required adjustments
  • coordinate logistics for meetings, events and engagement activities across diverse locations
  • support culturally responsive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students and communities
  • contribute to project evaluation, reporting and tracking of KPIs and success measures.

About you

  • experience coordinating or supporting complex projects within a large or multifaceted organisation
  • demonstrated understanding of cultural competence and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
  • technical capability in project planning, documentation, governance processes and reporting
  • experience managing project budgets, financial tracking and expenditure processes
  • strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive relationships
  • tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
