Project Support Officer – BIOSSCI Project

School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QY

Join a pioneering European Research Council Advanced Grant project reshaping how biosecurity is understood and practised. BIOSSCI: Social Science Transformations of Biosecurity is a five-year international research programme working with farmers and policymakers in Bangladesh, South Africa, and the UK to generate innovative, socially grounded approaches to disease threats affecting animal and human health.

Working closely with Professor Stephen Hinchliffe, you will play a central role in supporting and coordinating this high-profile international project. You will manage day-to-day administrative operations, monitor budgets and milestones, organise workshops and meetings, liaise with partners and stakeholders, and ensure compliance with University and funder requirements. Acting as a key point of contact, you will help create the conditions that enable the research team to deliver its ambitious objectives.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, sound financial oversight, and the confidence to work proactively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will bring experience of project coordination, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities with care and precision. Experience supporting research projects or events is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a globally significant research programme and support innovative social science addressing one of the key challenges of our time.
