Position Highlights

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks enthusiastic candidates who are interested in connecting students to experiences and higher education opportunities at the University of Arizona to apply for the position of Coordinator, Recruitment (Recruitment Professional II). This role is responsible for engaging directly with prospective students and families, leading efforts surrounding the recruitment and enrollment of students from small towns and rural communities, with a focus on building relationships and outreach through the Small Town and Rural Students (STARS) College Network.

The Coordinator supports students through the full admissions process-educational planning, financial aid, and enrollment-and collaborates with campus and community stakeholders to ensure rural voices and experiences are reflected in recruitment efforts. This position also supports the development and delivery of professional learning opportunities within Enrollment Management and Admissions to build broad understanding of the needs and experiences of students from rural and small-town backgrounds. The Coordinator may lead and participate in meetings, campus events, committees, and other departmental initiatives, including hosting discussions or feedback sessions that strengthen rural student support and inclusion.

Duties & Responsibilities

Work independently and proactively to create and track an individualized recruitment, travel and strategic plan based on targeted enrollment goals for assigned territories. Meets students where they are, extensively traveling via personal, rental, assigned, or university vehicle to recruitment locations, requiring flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed. Required to bring recruitment materials along on travel and may need to lift boxes of up to 20lbs. during travel. Minimal out of state recruitment travel can arise and will be notified in advance. Out of state travel could consist of individual high school's visits on behalf of the University of Arizona or group travel with other STARS institutions and programming.

Manages recruitment territory, with a focus on Tucson and Southern Arizona high schools and students. Represents the University of Arizona, the Arizona Recruitment team, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruitment efforts to a wide array of constituents on and off campus. Reads, evaluates and recommends admissions decisions via a comprehensive application review model for prospective students from assigned territory and other students as assigned. Utilizes training, sound personal judgment and experience to consider each student's full academic history, in the context of where a student lived and learned, and other life experiences to make recommendations for admission to the University of Arizona. Develops proactive initiatives to recruit and actively and independently leads engagement with prospective students, counselors, parents and other constituents regarding the admission and enrollment process, procedures, merit scholarships and related academic information. Deploys active communication with supervisors and team regarding activities, territories, and needs. Presents complex information to audiences that vary in size and scope, using provided and developed presentations both internal to Admissions but also the STARS College Network. This role involves a high level of SMS text, email, phone correspondence with active engagement and timely follow up required. Accurately records engagement, interactions, and work, successfully navigating multiple university systems of record and client relation management systems. Engages in a high level of customer service and student support, seeking out proactive opportunities to support students and their recruitment territory through the enrollment journey. Reviews and provides feedback on marketing and communications materials with a specific eye towards small town and rural populations. Relationship Building and serves as a resource specialist for communication of complex and sensitive information with respect to application, scholarship/financial aid, residency determination, academic advising/academic requirements, and admission to the University. Advises students interpreting pathways to Arizona regarding academics, funding, admission, and opportunities, and utilizes excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling abilities. Fosters relationships with communities, schools, students, and stakeholders, and proactively seeks to understand the needs of the community in order to meet recruitment goals. Creates and utilizes materials such as fliers, power points, and other resources to meet their territory needs and assist students in their path to Arizona. Investigates student issues, helps find solutions, and brings attention to supervisor as needed.

Researches, designs and implements strategic recruitment activities in collaboration with supervisor and other Enrollment Management leadership. Researches, develops, and enhances initiatives to promote the University to small town and rural students, families, and their communities. Fosters relationships with other STARS institutions to support communities, stakeholders, and seeks to understand the needs of the community. Utilizes analytical tools and research skills to seek new opportunities and interventions in recruitment and enrollment work. Stays on top of broader higher education and admissions profession topics. Assist in scheduling, marketing, and announcing campus visit opportunities for students and schools in rural or small-town communities. Coordinates and/or performs a variety of activities which may include registration, schedules and timelines, speaker/guest support, catering, audio/visual services, equipment usage, transportation logistics, etc.

  • Ability to follow laws and guiding principles of recruitment work, including FERPA regulations.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • May need to lift boxes of up to 20lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional-level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy and reliable personal vehicle is required.
  • Fingerprint clearance required and to be completed once hired.
