Research Associate I
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate I for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate will join an interdisciplinary, translational drug discovery program focused on brain aging, neurodegeneration, and chemobrain. This position will be responsible for designing experiments and independently conducting highly specialized and technical research.
Key Duties:
- Design, plan, and execute experiments related to brain aging, neurodegeneration, and chemobrain research.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; prepare figures, tables, and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, including literature review, data organization, and drafting scientific sections.
- Contribute to the writing, editing, and submission of scientific manuscripts.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty, research staff, and students in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Mentor students, postdoc fellows and other lab members.
- Present research findings at lab meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in neuroscience, pharmacology, molecular biology, or a related biomedical science field plus two (2) years of related research.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: The position requires the ability to perform laboratory work, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods. The candidate must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods. Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in a laboratory environment that may involve exposure to biological samples, chemicals, and standard laboratory equipment. The candidate must adhere to all institutional safety guidelines and federal regulations. The noise level is generally moderate. Some work may require flexible scheduling to meet experimental timelines.
