Job Description:
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Syracuse University seeks a Research Associate II to work on a highly collaborative team in the development and implementation of research that informs strategic action by the University and its component units. The Research Associate II will develop data collection protocols, analyze newly collected and previously existing data, and communicate findings to provide the University with actionable intelligence about institutional priorities of interest to administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in a social or behavioral science field is strongly desired.
- Additional postgraduate study in a social or behavioral science field is preferred.
- Experience with quantitative analysis is required.
- Experience with qualitative analysis is desired.
- Five years of experience in institutional research or a social or behavioral science field is required.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to lead, under supervision, small and medium-sized projects, and ability to work concurrently on multiple short and long-term projects, is required.
- Ability to communicate quantitative research results to non-technical audiences is required. Ability to also communicate qualitative research results is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
- Expertise with data extraction and statistical analysis software required. Experience with R is a plus.
- Experience with Tableau or other dashboarding software is desired.
Responsibilities:
- Perform data extraction and statistical analysis with high level expertise.
- Extract and analyze data from University databases and utilize various software platforms to respond to ad hoc requests and support larger research projects.
- Responsibly and ethically utilize University approved AI tools.
- In collaboration with senior office staff, work with University clients (e.g., administrators, staff, faculty) to develop quantitative and qualitative research projects. Methodologies may include surveys, analysis of existing data, and focus groups.
- Communicate quantitative research results to non-technical audiences as well as qualitative research results.
- Lead, under supervision, small and medium-sized projects.
- Work concurrently on multiple short and long-term projects.
- Work with senior office staff and other Research Associates to execute research projects and analyze resulting data.
- Communicate research results by drafting written reports and presentations and developing dashboards.
