RESEARCH FELLOW

The Draelos lab, in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics, is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral research fellow position. This is primarily for an NIH-funded project developing multimodal variational autoencoder models and probabilistic trajectory analyses for latent spaces formed from neural, genetic, and behavioral data.
- Researching and developing novel machine learning architectures for integration across multiple types of high-dimensional data.
- Researching and implementing novel algorithms for analysis of latent factors and their dynamics.
- Conducting literature searches, manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings in publication and at conferences.
- Collaborating across labs and disciplines.
- Assisting with training undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.
- Assisting in writing research proposals and acquiring data from outside agencies.
- May act as a liaison with other departments, programs, or organizations for acquiring data and sharing information related to the research project.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, or other relevant field.
- Experience with machine learning and statistical analyses.
- Proficiency with Python and relevant libraries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with genomic data modeling.
- Interest or experience working in neuroscience domain applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work across disciplines (neurobiology, bioinformatics, machine learning).
