Applications are sought for a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr Luke Rhodes (www.rhodes.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk) for an EPSRC funded project entitled “Taming the electron-electron interaction – towards designer correlated quantum materials”.
The successful candidate will play a central role in developing and applying cutting-edge theoretical tools to understand and design correlated quantum materials with enhanced functionalities. This will involve advancing functional renormalisation group theory methods for material-specific predictions, performing high-throughput electronic structure simulations, and collaborating closely with experimental partners to interpret and guide measurements on real materials.
To this end, we seek outstanding candidates who have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics, or experimental condensed matter physics which had a strong theoretical component. The candidate should have experience in electronic structure simulations, many body methods or worked in the area of correlated quantum materials, experience of collaboration with experimental partners would also be beneficial.
The post is available for 24 months, with the possibility of extension starting as soon as possible.
