NOTICE FOR THE AWARD OF GRANTS IN THE SCOPE OF R&D PROJECTS AND INSTITUTIONS
A tender is hereby opened for the award of (1) Research Grant(s) (RG) in the scope of R&D projects (Standing Together: A pRospective longitudinal Study with people receiving hemodialysis and families) (2023.14453.PEX) under the following conditions:
- Scientific Area: (Psychology).

- Admission Requirements:
- Masters enrolled in courses that do not confer academic degree integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution.
- Master's Degree in: Health Psychology and/or Clinical, with a final Master's grade of 16 or higher

- Other Requirements: Previous experience in research projects in the area of chronic kidney disease and psychosocial adaptation to chronic disease will be valued, as well as experience in qualitative analysis and scientific production, and a good command of the English language (spoken and written).
- Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, as well as nos. 1 and 2 of article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology.
- Work plan: (The work plan aims to support the completion of the scientific activities of the STARS project – Standing Together: A prospective longitudinal study with patients receiving hemodialysis and families, focusing on the scientific exploration of qualitative data collected from dyads made up of people with chronic kidney disease in a hemodialysis program and their family caregivers. The fellow will collaborate in the conclusion of the qualitative analysis of the interviews, including the review and consolidation of the process of coding, interpretation and integration of the results with the quantitative data of the study. It will also participate in the preparation and submission of scientific manuscripts to international peer-reviewed journals and will support the preparation of the final scientific report of the project, contributing to the achievement of its scientific objectives and to the dissemination of the results obtained.).
- Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Grant Holder, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th; Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation); Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).
- Workplace: The work will be carried out at School of Health Sciences of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Professor/Doctor Daniela Maria Pias de Figueiredo.
- Duration of the grant(s): The grant duration will be 3 months, with an expected start date of 1 October 2026, up to the maximum limit of approved funding. Under no circumstances shall it exceed the limits defined in nos. 3, 4 and 5 of article 6, of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grants Regulation of FCT, I.P.).
- Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to Insert allowance amount - €1.359,64 , according to the table of monthly maintenance allowance amounts set out in Annex I of Regulation no. 950/2019, subject to any updates that may be applicable, under the terms of no. 2 of article 18 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grants Regulation of FCT, I.P.). The fellow may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan.
- Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: [Curriculum evaluation (CE) and motivation letter (ML). If the jury deems it necessary, a selection interview (INT) may be held for the candidates ranked in the 3 best positions of the curricular evaluation that will take place in person at the School of Health of the University of Aveiro; The invitation to the interview, indicating the date and time, will be sent to the candidates to the email address indicated at the time of application. Applications considered admissible will be scored on a scale from zero (minimum classification) to twenty (maximum classification), and the final classification of the candidate's evaluation will be obtained by applying the following formula, with the respective value of : Final Evaluation = (0.7 × CE) + (0.2 × ML) + (0.1 × INT) If there is no interview, the final classification will be obtained by applying the following formula: Final Evaluation = (0.8 x CE) + (0.2 x ML)
- Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Dr. Daniela Maria Pias de Figueiredo, Coordinating Professor with Aggregation at the School of Health of the University of Aveiro; Effective members: Dr. Oscar Manuel Soares Ribeiro, Associate Professor with Aggregation at the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Aveiro; Dr. Helena Isabel Mendonça Sousa, Equivalent to Level 1 PhD Researcher at the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Aveiro; Alternate members: Dr. Maria Constança Leite de Freitas Paúl, Full Professor at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto; Dr. Ana João Carvalho da Silva Santos, Equivalent to Assistant Researcher at the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Aveiro.
- Deadline for applications (not be less than 10 working days) and how to submit applications: The call is open from 24-08-2026 to 04-09-2026, and only applications submitted within the deadline will be admitted. Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documentos: (Eg: Curriculum Vitae, certificate of qualifications, declaration of honor, letter of motivation and other supporting documents deemed relevant). They shall also indicate the e-mail address to which by such indication they accept to be notified for all purposes within this procedure. Applications should be sent by e-mail to essua-bolsas@ua.pt.
- Form of publication/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be published through an ordered list (alphabetically, by final mark obtained or other) posted on the University's website, within 90 working days after the final date of submission of the application, and the successful candidate will be notified by email. For the purposes of prior hearing of interested parties, the deadline of 10 working days is set, as provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure. At the end of the period for hearing the interested parties, and in the absence of any response from them, the list of candidates will become final. Candidates may lodge a complaint against the final decision within 15 working days, or appeal to the maximum executive body of the funding entity within 30 working days after notification of the final decision, in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology.
- Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until 31-10-2026 for the purpose of constituting a reserve list for selection.

If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th, which approves the legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, attributed by foreign higher education institutions, and of paragraph e) of no. 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of August 3rd, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of the hiring act.
3 Note: Depending on the case, the grant may also include other components, namely tuition fees for grants associated with obtaining an academic degree or diploma up to the maximum amount provided for therein in the table in Appendix III of Regulation 950/2019, provided it is considered eligible expenditure under the terms of the applicable funding regulations.
