RESEARCH INTERN
New York University Tandon School of Engineering
The Department of Computer Science at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Research Intern to work with Prof. Emily Black.

The CSE department conducts ongoing research in a wide range of areas related to computer science theory, cyber security, analysis, visualization data, computer games, and internet & web research.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for analyzing data around the performance of pretrial risk assessment instruments. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in algorithmic fairness and data science as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience working with real-world data (e.g. directly from a government agency, not publicly available online) is desirable.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the monthly base salary for this position is $4,000 for full time, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.
Expected start date and period of employment
Expected start date is: June 18, 2026. This position is expected to be for 3 months.
Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate or master-level degree in engineering or related field. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
