Job Description Summary
Conduct experiments related to brain-machine interface research projects, specifically focused on both natural and artificial sense of touch, for the Richardson Laboratory of the Department of Neurosurgery. Responsibilities of the position include conducting experiments in rats, conducting experiments in human neurosurgical patients, and daily laboratory management.
Job Description
A Research Specialist A is needed to conduct research and provide technical support for several projects developing brain-machine interfaces in both rats and humans. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills for conducting experiments with human neurosurgical patients, as well as in vivo testing experience with rodents or other animal models. Responsibilities include rat handling, behavioral training and testing, human subject testing, and general laboratory management such as maintaining supplies and preparing for and attending regulatory inspections. Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot experiments are essential attributes. Electromechanical prototyping abilities (including computer-aided design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and PCB design) and scientific programming (MATLAB, Python) are preferred but not required. Position is contingent on funding availability.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, biology or related field and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
