Advertised Job Summary: This Research Specialist contributes to conducting research on age-related symptoms experienced by mothers who are carriers of the FMR1 premutation and have a child with fragile X syndrome. The research specialist will work with the faculty principal investigator and grant staff to contribute to a longitudinal NIH-funded research study conducting assessments, managing data, organizing findings, and preparing reports.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting research
- Direct experience working directly with families of children living with neurodevelopmental disorders or/or adults with neurogenerative disease
- Experience administering clinical standardized assessments
- Experience with REDCap data management software
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Work with diverse populations, to include individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Job Duty: The Research Specialist will conduct assessments with mothers who have children with fragile X syndrome. The individual will conduct interviews with mothers and collect data. This process will facilitate gathering the necessary information to conduct further research.
