Research Teaching Specialist IV
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist IV will perform research within the Affective and Clinical Neuroscience Lab housed within the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research and the Department of Psychiatry. Research in the lab focuses on the establishment of biological and environmental predictors of psychiatric illness risk. The Research Teaching Specialist IV will perform duties such as, subject recruitment, data acquisition using behavioral and neuroimaging techniques (MRI), data entry, coding, database management, some data analyses, and overseeing subject reimbursements. The Research Teaching Specialist IV will be exposed to diverse subject populations, including psychiatric patients, in a lab that employs genetic, systems neuroscience, and clinical techniques.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- As directed, performs various research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory, with a specific focus on MRI research of cognitive and emotional processes.
- Performs MRI research studies. Performs operation of task stimulation, eye tracking, and assistance in operation of the MRI scanner.
- Helps coordinate subject recruitment and data management.
- Assists investigators in the implementation of cognitive tasks and stimulation paradigms for use in functional MRI and cognitive neuroscience studies.
- Assist in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the functions of the laboratory. Participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
- Assists with the maintenance of study documents and data including sensitive data containing confidential information.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in a relevant science, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, data analysis, data management or computer coding.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.
- Work Environment: Office environment. Moderate noise.
