Department Information
The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty.
Job Summary
The Markowitz lab is seeking an entry level researcher to participate on research that focuses on research in the cortical and subcortical circuits and how they go awry in neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze tests data and report findings.
- Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related databases.
- Operate or advise in the operation various equipment used in research studies.
- Investigate and propose alternative experiment procedures.
- Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation.
- Participate as directed in preparation of presentations and manuscripts.
- Train in laboratory processes and proper use of laboratory equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
Two to three years of job related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Basic molecular biology: miniprep, PCR, cloning
2. Maintenance of cell lines
3. Essential lab manager tasks: inventory, purchasing.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
This job requires working knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific and related laboratory operations. Includes skill in data organization, management and evaluation; statistical analysis; project organization; and, use of advanced statistical and scientific computer applications.
Other Information
Salary range: $34,000.00-$38,400.00
Location: Atlanta, GA
Job grade: R03
