The Department of Health Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Public Health seeks a part-time research assistant in support of research activities under the supervision of faculty member Dr. Peter Cunningham.
This is an in-person position and candidates must be able to come into the office each workday in downtown Richmond, VA
Position Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility over a survey research project to include completion of all research processes (checking and formatting sample lists, preparation and distribution of mailings, tracking and processing returned surveys and undeliverable addresses, and generating weekly reports on survey progress to be shared with the research coordinator and principal investigator).
- Oversee and coordinate daily activities of student workers.
- Assist the research coordinator in tracking budgets, scheduling Zoom/telephone interviews, and managing supply inventory.
- Meets with the research team on a regular basis to share status updates on the survey project and solicit feedback.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous office work or research experience.
- Familiarity with REDCap and Excel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Attention to detail in high volume tasks.
- Excellent communication skills when coordinating on projects and work timelines.
- Ability to think critically and operate from a place of sound judgment.
- Familiarity with responsible data management practices and adherence to strict privacy and confidentiality protocols.
- Proactive in pursuing solutions and the willingness to ask questions when unsure.
- Ability to lift moderately heavy (20-50lbs) objects.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
