Researcher Development and Training Manager

The Medical Sciences Division is seeking to appoint to the post of Researcher Development and Training Manager. This senior post has wide-ranging responsibility for the University of Oxford Medical Sciences Division’s development and training activities for all graduate students and research staff (particularly researchers at early career stages). This is an exciting and challenging position that is pivotal in enabling world-class training and career development at scale to the Division’s approximately 2600 graduate students and 3000 research staff.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Division’s training programme, and play a key role in developing strategy and policy in this area, as well as evaluating courses and events, and implementing new initiatives for training and researcher development. This is a key stream of activity within the Medical Sciences Division based in the Graduate School team and collaborating closely with the Research Strategy and Funding team.

As lead contact point for training and researcher development, the post holder will work closely with the academic leads, and collaborate with a network of stakeholders within MSD departments, across the wider University and externally.

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants who enjoy strategic thinking and have considerable experience of developing and managing training provision for postgraduate students and/or researchers, preferably within a Higher Education environment. It brings opportunities to operate at a strategic level, develop policy, evaluation strategy and practice, and manage change. We are also seeking excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills with a commitment to team working and the ability to build consensus and effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

This post is permanent and available on a full-time basis (part-time at 0.8 FTE or above would be considered). Although an on-site presence is a requirement of the role, the opportunity for an element of remote working is also available.
