Residence Life Coordinator for Care & Community Standards
Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) at Washington & Jefferson College are student-centered professional staff members within the Office of Residence Life that are responsible for fostering a supportive, inclusive, and learning focused experience within campus residence halls. Residence Life Coordinators report to the Director of Residence Life and work collaboratively to achieve a wide range of departmental, divisional, and institutional goals through direct service to students living on campus.
The Residence Life Coordinator for Care & Community Standards is uniquely positioned to have a positive impact on the experience of students at Washington & Jefferson College. The primary areas of focus of this position are the supervision of residence halls and an intentional focus on student support case management across Washington & Jefferson College's campus. The Residence Life Coordinator for Care & Community Standards will also work collaboratively with the Office of Community Standards and facilitate low-level individual student conduct meetings.
This is an in-person, full-time, 12-month, live-in position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily housing operation of campus residence halls within a defined area of campus.
- Provides leadership to and facilitates major campus housing initiatives including move-in, winter hall closing, spring semester hall opening, and end of the academic year closing.
- Supervises and trains a staff of Resident Assistants (RA) with a primary focus on ensuring that each RA is connected to every member of their respective residential community.
- Implements the Residential Learning & Engagement Framework within the defined campus housing area and through department wide programs.
- Provides a high level of direct support to students and collaborates with faculty and staff to make appropriate referrals while using appropriate communication and documentation tools (Prez Pathways, Maxient, CARE team referral).
- Facilitates weekly RA staff team and one-to-one meetings.
- Serves as a member of the Administrator On-Call team that responds to urgent and emergency student needs on campus.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additionally, this professional staff member works to intentionally support students living on campus at Washington & Jefferson College through:
- Proactive engagement with students by facilitating regular and intentional interactions with students living on campus.
- Facilitating one to one student support meetings through referrals from college faculty, staff, and students.
- Managing complex student support cases in collaboration with the Center for Student Well-Being, College Care Team, and college stakeholders within the Division of Student Life and Academic Affairs.
- Membership and active participation on the College's Care Team and other committees that focus on support, success, and retention at Washington & Jefferson College.
- Active collaboration with the Office of Community Standards by serving as a hearing officer for low level student conduct cases involving residential students.
- Taking leadership of student well-being initiatives within the Office of Residence Life.
Qualifications:
Education & Professional Experience:
- A master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling, Education, or a closely related field is required.
- Alternatively, A bachelor’s degree and 1+ year of experience working in a full-time professional live-in role within college/university housing is highly preferred. 2+ years of Graduate Assistant experience and/or undergraduate resident assistant experience may be substituted for 1 year of full-time professional experience.
