Restorative Neurosurgeon --Assistant Professor, WOT
Position Description
The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine invites applications for a Restorative Neurosurgeon to join our academic faculty.
This is a full-time appointment at the Assistant Professor (without tenure) rank in the Clinician-Scholar Pathway.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $53,171 - $57,077 per month ($638,052--$684,924 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This position will focus on the surgical management of complex neurological disorders, including epilepsy surgery, movement disorder surgery (e.g., deep brain stimulation), pain procedures, eloquent cortex tumor resections, and peripheral nerve surgery.
The successful candidate will join a high-volume, multi-hospital practice environment across Harborview Medical Center, the University of Washington Medical Center Mountlake and North West Campuses, serving a diverse and complex patient population. The Department of Neurological Surgery has a nationally recognized tradition of excellence in patient care, education, and research. Faculty are expected to engage in a broad range of academic activities, including clinical service, teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and participation in clinical or translational research.
The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2026.
Our salaries are benchmarked to the AAMC faculty compensation scale. Other compensation associated with this position may include a relocation incentive/moving allowance, administrative supplement, or productivity incentive, as applicable.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent).
Applicants must be eligible for a Washington State Medical License.
Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Neurological Surgery
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
