Department: Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships

Position Overview: Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Scholarships, the Scholarship Coordinator will provide support in the administration of merit scholarships including institutional, athletic, foundation and private scholarships. Responsibilities include promoting, selecting and awarding scholarship recipients; facilitating academic reviews; and responding to inquiries from prospective and current students and parents.

Responsibilities: Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Scholarships, the Scholarship Coordinator will provide support in the administration of merit scholarships including institutional, athletic, foundation and private scholarships. Responsibilities include promoting, selecting and awarding scholarship recipients; facilitating academic reviews; and responding to inquiries from prospective and current students and parents. The incumbent will collaborate with other campus partners to plan, implement and assess recruitment and retention-based initiatives including special programs targeting academically talented students and other initiatives designed to provide a sense of community for scholars. Additionally, the Scholarship Coordinator will hire, train and supervise the student assistants (typically around 3-5 students) responsible for responding to general inquiries, intaking document submissions, developing social media content, and providing other administrative support for the unit.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Candidates for this position must enjoy working with students and alumni and possess strong interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, alumni, faculty and staff with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Minimum of one year progressive experience in student services, program coordination, leadership, advising or financial aid role in higher education OR relevant experience.
  • Strong and proven community-building skills and a record of successful involvement in program development and innovation.
  • Strong technological skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to small and large groups for recruitment events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Image Now, Tableau, BlackBaud Award Management and comfortable learning new web content management systems. Ability to generate, analyze, and make conclusions about reports to support business processes.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies concerning the provision of financial aid to students as well as knowledge of institutional scholarship policies and procedure.

Salary: Salary: $47,500 - $53,500 depending on qualifications and experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
