How will you contribute?
- Performing multi-physics (mechanical, electromagnetic, and, possibly, fluid-dynamic) and multi-scale simulations for drone components using finite element tools (e.g., Abaqus, Comsol).
- Supporting the development of an AI-assisted simulation framework by providing accurate high-fidelity numerical data for training and validation of surrogate models for multi-disciplinary design and optimization.
- Participating in the definition of mission profiles and early-stage design concepts for lightweight drones, focusing on performance, stealth, and manufacturability.
- Collaborating closely with specialists in AI, aerodynamics, structures, and manufacturing to support integrated design and optimization activities within an international consortium.
- Contributing to technical reporting, dissemination of results in peer-reviewed publications and conferences, and preparation of deliverables within the project consortium.

Education
- PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong academic background in computational mechanics, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, or multi-physics simulation.
Experience and skills
- Ideally 3–5 years of experience (including PhD) in one or more of the following:
- Finite Element Modelling (FEM),
- Multiphysics simulations,
- Preliminary aircraft or drone design.
- Experience in applied research or technology development projects is considered an asset.
- Hard skills:
- Proficiency with commercial simulation tools such as Abaqus and Comsol Multiphysics.
- Familiarity with multi-scale or coupled field analysis (e.g., structural-electromagnetic, fluid-structure).
- Understanding of drone flight dynamics and mission-based performance analysis.
- Programming skills in Python, C++, or equivalent for simulation preprocessing/postprocessing.
- (Desirable) Exposure to reduced-order modelling, multi-disciplinary optimization or AI-based surrogate modelling techniques.
- Soft skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Proactive mindset and ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
- Adaptability and openness to learn new tools and methods.
- Language skills
- Fluency in English (and French), both oral and written. Other relevant languages are considered to be an asset.
