Job Summary
Provides intermediate-level secretarial support to the Division of Communication and Performing Arts under minimal supervision. This position supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with office coverage, answering and directing calls, taking accurate messages, and responding to email inquiries. Responsibilities also include preparing basic correspondence and reports, organizing and maintaining departmental records, and assisting with day-to-day office tasks. As a first point of contact for the division, this position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment. Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly. The employee must communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and via email.

- Knowledge of general office procedures and basic record-keeping practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
- Skill in organizing and maintaining electronic and paper filing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Experience working in a customer service role or related position.
- Experience working in a professional or academic office environment.
