Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Section Chief at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This faculty member will be an experienced Urogynecologist with outstanding clinical skills and leadership aptitude as its Chief of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgeon for the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Augusta University. The ideal candidate must be a board certified/eligible Urogynecologist to join our medical center. This position is a non-tenure track position. The selected candidate responsibilities will include direct patient care and teaching medical students and residents in the clinical and surgical evaluation and management of disorders of the urogenital tract and pelvic floor, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, hematuria, pelvic pain while collaborating with other departments in clinical research and projects. The faculty member should have a proven history of excellent clinical and surgical skills, involvement with clinical research, and strong desire to be involved with resident and medical student teaching. In partnership with the Chair of the Department, develop a comprehensive strategy and a plan for the growth and development of the division's clinical, educational, and research activities.

Responsibilities

The Section Chief is expected to supervise junior faculty members and mid-level providers assigned to the clinical practice location; demonstrate outstanding activity in the teaching aspects of the Department. Specifically, this would include:

  • Development of the division's faculty with emphasis on delivering evidence-based patient-centered care and encouraging growth in other aspects of the academic mission including teaching and research.
  • Create a culture that encourages faculty promotion by prioritizing development and engagement through clinical research, national service, and scholarly publication.
  • Providing teaching instruction and supervision to residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Providing lectures to fellows, residents and medical students as requested.
  • Attending Grand Rounds, M&M Conferences, Journal Club, Division meetings and other Departmental activities.
  • Participating in mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Required Qualifications

MD; must be licensed/eligible for license in the state of Georgia with 5 years or more of applicable clinical and teaching experience; must have current DEA;

Board certified/eligible in OB/GYN or Urology.

Board certified/eligible in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities based on personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference is for candidates who (1) are eager to help further expand our academic and clinical program (2) are well-trained in vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic pelvic reconstructive surgery and (3) have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality, educating the next generation of physicians, excellence in patient care, and advancement of knowledge through innovative clinical research. Leadership experience desired.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
