The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for an IR/Comparative Assistant Professor position in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, with a research and teaching focus on Security and Intelligence/Methods. This nine-month, tenure-track appointment begins August 15, 2026. Salary is competitive. It is expected that this is a research-intensive position with a standard 2-2 course load.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field at the time of appointment. Candidates must have research and teaching expertise in Security and Intelligence, as well as research methods. They must exhibit promise of research and teaching excellence in both areas.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration has award-winning faculty. It offers an M.P.A., a B.A., two minors, two concentrations, and is a core department in the interdisciplinary Public Policy PhD Program. The Department has 27 full-time faculty members. The Gerald G. Fox Master of Public Administration Program is NASPAA-accredited and ranks among the top 20% of public affairs schools nationwide.
