Security Guard
The Security Guard / Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University property (both clinical and nonclinical); maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts. The job will involve the ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods; carry and lift 21-30 pounds and run short distances. Note: This is a part-time (40%), limited position where you will be employed for a 12-month duration. You will be issued a work schedule weekly, but will also be asked to work "on-call", if/when available. In addition, when hired will need to be available to work full-time for a two-week duration, to include working various shifts and weekends. After training is complete, the position will return to part-time (40% = approx. 16 hours per week), and we have a flexible work schedule.
Effective 10/17/23: We are offering a new hire sign-on bonus of $500 to all external hires that have not been employed by a UC in the last 12 months!
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly rate for this position is $29.87. Note: This position does not offer benefits.
