Description

 

The Program Manager is responsible for planning and facilitating campus-wide leadership and civic engagement experiences to enhance the growth and education of the student body. The Program Manager will be responsible for leadership and civic engagement program development, event logistics, outreach and promotion efforts, facilitation, assessment, and reporting. This position will support leadership curriculum development, manage the service hub, the League of the Rising Hawks, and advise students on leadership and civic engagement experiences that support student development.

Duties:

  • Develop, plan, promote, and facilitate leadership development programs and events. Stay current with trends and innovations in student leadership development and civic responsibility. Support late night and weekend programs as needed.
  • Responsible for recruitment and support for students participating in League of the Rising Hawks. Collaborate with campus partners to identify opportunities that align with the student co-curricular experience, communicate opportunities to participants, and identify new experiences that align with program goals. Management of experience path in the student engagement platform.
  • Coordinate and promote ongoing community and civic engagement experiences. Support Assistant Director in implementation of large-scale community and civic engagement events hosted by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and ongoing development of office student leaders, including HLI peer facilitators, mentors, and democracy fellows.
  • Advise and provide resources to students seeking to develop new leadership skills and get more involved in community and civic engagement experiences through collaboration with alumni, faculty, staff, local government agencies and non-profit organizations.
  • Manage and maintain service hub: communicate upcoming volunteer opportunities, connect students with community partners, and identify new organizations and volunteer events for students to participate in.
  • Responsible for assessing leadership and civic engagement experiences. Report assessment initiatives and results to the Director and determine how learning outcomes align with the department’s mission, Division of Student Affairs goals, and university priorities.
  • Collaborate with office staff on all department programs, special projects, and other community building events. Collaborate with staff outside of the Office to Student Involvement and Leadership to host events and activities. Serve on divisional and university-wide committees and advisory boards and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Three years of related work experience.
  3. Knowledge of student development theories, leadership theories and best practices.
  4. Knowledge of group dynamics and supervision.
  5. Skills in collaborative event planning and coordination as well as in project management and time management.
  6. Skills in verbal and written communication.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team and to critically assess situations and problem solve.
  8. Ability to train and develop student leaders, individually and in groups.

Desired:

Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership or related field.

Experience working, developing, or facilitating student leadership development, civic engagement experiences, or related experiences in a higher education setting.

Experience working with student engagement platforms.

Bilingual Skillset.
