Senior Academic Adviser
Position Purpose: Provide academic advising to current and prospective undergraduate students who are pursuing or plan to pursue an undergraduate degree program in the School of Business Administration. Complete student audits as necessary. Coordinate and manage outreach to students, prerequisite checking, programs and new initiatives within the department including coordinating the business minor for non-business students. Create and conduct training, assist Director where necessary, represent department on committees at the department and university level.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in guidance and counseling, higher education leadership, public administration or business administration or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in academic counseling or advising.
- Knowledge and experience in counseling techniques, planning and implementing new initiatives and programs and training.
- Strong computer and database skills and proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workplace applications, including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Work hours generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., evening or weekend hours required periodically.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Oakland University's programs and policies and experience with a student information system.
- Experience with Banner and Degree Works.
