Salary Range: Up to $123,000 - $130,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Senior Director for Business Operations is responsible for the oversight, efficiency, effectiveness and compliance of fiscal operations of assigned large and complex area as well as contract management, human resources and administrative operations. This role provides high level leadership and daily management of the fiscal administration, contract management, human resources and administrative operations of assigned area.
Core Responsibilities
- Manages and oversees large and complex operating budgets and reconciliations, with multiple funding sources. Ensures that a system of controls is in place that complies with State, System and Institutional policies and procedures regarding fiscal management.
- Provides administrative and fiscal oversight of the Business Affairs' service center.
- Plans, coordinates and supervises administrative and fiscal support staff and establish work priorities, schedules, training and development needs.
- Provides reconciliation oversight of operating budgets for division/departments/units. Serves as the point of contact for other fiscal/budget personnel in assigned area.
- Provides technical support for budget development, reporting and budget variance process. Prepares and guides team on recurring or ad hoc financial management reports and data retrieval for analyses.
- Reviews funding sources, account expenditures and reported use of funds to ensure compliance with restrictions, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Acts as a fiscal compliance officer by conducting audits of fiscal processes and procedures. Identifies appropriate financial internal controls and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance. Advises staff members on financial transactions and university policies and procedures.
- Assists senior management with developing budgets each year that match strategic initiatives to include providing projections for income and expenses and developing reports for departments on an ongoing basis.
- Applies advanced professional financial concepts to perform complex technical analysis in order to evaluate and understand past performance and determine present and future performance and the consequent resource allocations. Provides analyses utilizing modeling “what-if” techniques for budget, planning and forecasting.
- Provides communication, training, guidance and informational materials to staff regarding budget management, reporting and reconciliation methods. Develops tools and reference materials for staff.
- Interprets information to identify change opportunities and makes recommendations to management about business process improvement to increase work efficiencies and enhance service delivery capabilities that will contribute to the achievement of the business goals and objectives.
- Collaborates with various departments and subject matter experts on various issues to develop creative solutions. Communicates with affected parties and follows-up to ensure satisfactory resolution and implementation of systems to avoid repeated issues.
- Provides indirect leadership to team members by training new fiscal staff and by ensuring current staff understand new processes.
- Manages and coordinates contract and service agreement processing.
- Loads or assists in loading annual budgets into the system.
- Manages the daily fiscal and human resources processes and operations of the assigned area. Serves as consultant and liaison for fiscal and human resources processes and operations to departments.
- Provides proactive and understandable communication about processes and changes. Facilitates collaborative working relationships. Researches, consults on and analyzes a variety of sensitive administrative issues, and collaborates with departments as appropriate.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Ten years of progressively responsible professional work experience in budgetary or fiscal management including three years of experience working in an environment with multiple complex funding sources to include:
- At the department's discretion, a Master's Degree or professional certification above the Bachelor's level (i.e. a CPA) may substitute for two years of experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree from accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience in higher education.
- Fund accounting experience working in an environment with similar complexity to the University of Texas System.
- Experience with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Independent decision making and problem-solving ability. Tact diplomacy and discretion required in all matters.
- Excellent organizational skills in identifying and prioritizing work activities.
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality work.
- Ability to use query and reporting tools. In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheets and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn how to effectively use Business Intelligence reporting tools and forecast modeling tools to support budget, planning and forecast activities.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments of various durations.
- Experience with automated Financial Accounting system software.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite software, emphasis in Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred
- A thorough knowledge of University administrative structure, policies, and procedures.
- Fund accounting experience working in an environment with similar complexity to the University of Texas System.

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
