• Remuneration: $138,193 to $156,633 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $116,774 to $132,357 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Platform to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Senior Engineer, Platforms position is responsible for the hands-on development of the scaffolding services and automation required to transition QUT to a modern application architecture and remove hand-built monolithic application platforms. The role works within a platform engineering team, and closely alongside portfolio, cloud engineering and security teams to automate infrastructure processes and assist in developing managed application environments that enable functional portfolio teams to focus on features instead of the development of foundational services. This role also assists in development of scaffolding services outlined in the architectural vision. The outcome of this is increased developer / portfolio productivity and enabling the adoption of standard architectural practices across teams. This position reports to the Platform Engineering Team Leader for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

What you need to succeed

1.  Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology or a related field, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications combined with extensive relevant experience. 

2.  Proven experience in a Platform Engineer or Senior Systems Administrator role with a focus on PowerShell, Lambda, Kubernetes and TypeScript programming.

3.  Enterprise experience with at least one common scripting language – i.e. PowerShell, Python or Go.

4.  Demonstrated understanding of enterprise systems - edge cases, failure modes, behaviours, and specific implementations. 

5.  Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure and tooling (VMWare, AWS, GCE, Azure, Docker, CI/CD pipelines & Terraform). 

6.  High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
