(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Provides comprehensive support to the human resources team and assigned unit(s), ensuring efficient Human Resources (HR) operations. Involves coordination of HR processes, handling team administrative tasks, on and off boarding employees, HRIS management, workers' compensation, unemployment inquiries, providing general guidance on policies and procedures and other related HR functions and special projects. When assigned, serves as first point of contact for initial questions for designated unit(s). Ensures compliance with university, state, federal and other regulatory rules, policies, and procedures. Maintains a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. Plays a crucial role in facilitating effective communication and service delivery within the HR department and to the university community.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports and trains coordinators with standard operating procedures (SOP), including maintaining the coordinator guidebook
  2. Coordinates tasks and processing of assigned HR function, including onboarding and offboarding
  3. Manages and verifies documentation processes, whether in the collection of I-9 documentation, E-Verify submission, policy and procedure acknowledgements, or other new hire paperwork, or in the validation prior to processing of the employee record
  4. May assist with new employee orientation
  5. Manages the offboarding process, ensuring proper documentation for terminations and exit procedures to include exit surveys
  6. Processes HR and MSS transactions such as new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, name changes, and/or changes in job classifications ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with university policies and procedures
  7. Ensures relevant HR knowledgebase is current and accurate
  8. Provides general guidance on locating relevant HR policies and procedures on the university and USG websites
  9. Assists employees, including managers in understanding and applying HR policies and addressing inquiries related to HR processes, including net ID and payroll issues
  10. Processes and responds to unemployment claims in accordance with university policies and state regulations while maintaining records and documentation related to the claims
  11. Coordinates other functions directly related to the assigned area such as employee workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, validation of position and employee data, and ensure timely processing and documentation of each
  12. Serves as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding worker's compensation inquiries
  13. Assists with Title IX hearing preparation cases and schedule coordination
  14. Assists with HR related immigration and visa status of employees within the university
  15. Partners with HR unit hiring managers and recruiter to schedule team interviews, communicates with candidates and completes team onboarding
  16. Assists routinely with highly sensitive or confidential matters, while maintaining discretion as appropriate
  17. Schedules and conducts Tier 1 exit interviews for departing employees and document feedback and provide reports to HRBPs and HR leadership
  18. Provides compliant-based responses to ongoing employee HR inquiries

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Experience
Three (3) years of human resources experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Higher education human resources experience

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Operates effectively within the organizational structure with excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite and HRIS systems)
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow up skills
Strong phone and e-mail etiquette
