Senior Manager of Revenue and Payment Services

About This Opportunity

As Senior Manager of Revenue and Payment Services, you will lead the University’s Receivable and Payment Services functions, ensuring inbound and outbound payment processes are efficient, timely, client‑focused, and aligned with UQ’s governance framework and risk appetite. Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations and Business Transformation, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across receivables, payables, and expense management, shaping a contemporary service delivery framework that supports financial sustainability and strong client focused outcomes across a complex, multi‑campus environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the Receivable and Payment Services teams, fostering a high‑performing, collaborative and service‑oriented culture.
  • Driving continuous improvement by reviewing, designing and implementing efficient, compliant end‑to‑end financial processes that often extend beyond Finance and Business Services.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust service management, quality assurance and governance frameworks aligned with legal, regulatory and University requirements.
  • Providing expert advice, insights and reporting to senior stakeholders, including analysis of trends, outstanding debt and recommendations to support informed decision‑making.

About You

You will bring a strategic mindset, strong people leadership capability, and deep expertise in finance operations within complex organisations. You will also demonstrate:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification with substantial experience, or an equivalent combination of extensive experience and education or training.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing professional teams, with a strong record of delivering customer‑focused services and driving continuous improvement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial operations including receivables, receipting, purchasing, expense management governance and accounts payable, with in‑depth expertise in at least one discipline.
  • Strong experience in managing, auditing and investigating financial processes, including identifying irregularities and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Highly developed analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to lead complex process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills, enabling you to influence, negotiate and provide clear, well‑researched advice to diverse stakeholders.

Experience in the higher education sector, alongside a strong general accounting background and professional membership in accounting or credit management, will be highly regarded.
