Senior Research Coordinator

About This Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Coordinator, with expertise in immunology and laboratory research, to support the coordination of research activities in the Translational Innate Immunotherapy Laboratory within our world-leading Frazer Institute.

The Senior Research Coordinator's dynamic contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless functioning of the laboratory and the successful execution and advancement of research initiatives. By actively engaging in diverse facets of laboratory management, research collaboration, safety enhancement, and innovative production processes, the Senior Research Coordinator will make a significant impact to both the laboratory's operations and the broader scientific community.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Laboratory financial oversight and procurement coordination
  • Experiment Setup and Monitoring
  • Data Management and Documentation
  • Research Contribution including data analysis and reporting
  • Ethics, Biosafety and Compliance
  • Development of Natural Killer (NK) cell production methods and SOP’s

About You

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Completion of a relevant degree in Science with subsequent experience in coordinating activities; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of general research techniques and duties, including purchasing, report writing, preparing ethics applications.
  • Significant experience working in wet-lab laboratory research.
  • Detailed knowledge of legislative requirements and operating procedures for major areas of research and scientific safety such as quarantine procedures, waste disposal, labelling and risk assessment.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct documentation.
  • The ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a research environment.

The following experience would be highly regarded:

  • Experience with NK cell or inducible pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) cultures and experimentation.
  • Molecular biology (including plasmid design, transduction and transfection techniques).
  • In vivo experimentation, flow cytometry and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks including verification of the right to work in Australia (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment) and mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
