The School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University (ECU) is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Senior Research Officer (HEW 5) to support a major industry engaged research initiative: the $1M Sheep Industry Pivot Project. This project aims to diversify market pathways for Australian sheep products by identifying high potential global product opportunities, supporting business transformation for existing players in the ecosystem, and supporting the delivery of a pilot industry incubator with producers, processors, and distributors.
In this role, you will contribute directly to applied research that has real world industry impact. Your work will include conducting desktop research, supporting market scans, analysing data, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and assisting in preparing evidence based reports and business cases. You will also play an integral part in the delivery and evaluation of the project’s Pilot Pivot Incubator, ensuring strong connections between research outcomes and industry needs.
About you
You are an organised, proactive, and research minded professional who enjoys working across diverse tasks - from desktop research and market analysis to stakeholder engagement and drafting reports. Your background includes experience in research assistance, such as literature reviews, qualitative or mixed methods data collection, or competitor benchmarking.
You bring strong communication skills, allowing you to translate information into clear, engaging formats for varied audiences. You are comfortable working with external stakeholders and can coordinate meetings, workshops, interviews, and other engagement activities with professionalism and confidence.
Your planning and organisational abilities mean you can manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate research records, and contribute effectively to project documentation and delivery. You are collaborative, respectful, and able to build positive working relationships across teams and with industry partners.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is required. Experience or familiarity with the sheep industry, livestock production, food innovation, or agricultural value chains will be highly regarded but is not essential.
