Senior Scientist - Anesthesiology
Position Summary
The Evers lab is a small, tight-knit lab (5 -7 members) that works on sterol modulation of membrane proteins, with a strong focus on neurosteroid modulation of ion channels. We are interested in identifying sterol-binding proteins and characterizing state-dependent binding and its effects on protein function. The lab uses a variety of methods including: (1) photoaffinity labeling and proximity labeling coupled with protein mass spectrometry; (2) fluorescent methods to study ligand binding; and (3) structural biology using cryo-electron microscopy.
Collaborates on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting. May submit grant proposals in rare circumstances with the approval of the PI, Department Head and Dean.
- Prepares and submits papers on research.
- Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards.
- Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with expression and purification of mammalian membrane proteins.
- Structural biology skills: single particle cryo-EM sample preparation and data analysis.

Salary Range
$63,400.00 - $115,000.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
