Senior Technical Business Analyst - Cyber

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Technical Business Analyst to join a high-profile, multi-year Cyber Security Transformation Program at UNSW. The University is accelerating a migration from its legacy SIEM/SOC service to a suite of Next Generation Threat Detection & Response capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with leading Procurement activities and direct involvement in the implementation and migration of Cyber Security SIEM and SOC services. This is a rare opportunity to work on a large-scale, multi-million-dollar program, replacing a legacy SIEM/SOC service with modern capabilities including SIEM, MSSP/SOC, EDR/XDR, Security Data Pipelines, Threat Intelligence, and AI-driven security services.

You will play a key role in a complex program with an immediate focus on RFP & Procurement, where you will lead evaluation of vendor responses, scoring, clarifications, and support contract negotiation. The role will then continue to Delivery & Migration phase, transitioning into end-to-end delivery support across design, migration, testing, and operationalisation through to 2027

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical and functional evaluation of vendor proposals across SIEM, SOC, MSSP, EDR, MDR and related services
  • Develop evaluation frameworks, scorecards, and vendor comparison models
  • Facilitate workshops with business, technical teams, and vendors
  • Perform current and future state analysis across cyber security capabilities
  • Support data pipeline and SIEM migration planning, including log onboarding
  • Define service models, processes, and integration points across vendors
  • Drive testing, implementation planning, and cutover readiness
  • Uplift runbooks, playbooks, and operational procedures
  • Coordinate training and transition to BAU teams

What You Bring (Skills & Experience):

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong experience in cyber security domains (SIEM, SOC, EDR, MDR, Threat Intelligence)
  • Proven track record delivering large RFPs and vendor evaluations
  • Experience working across multi-vendor, large-scale transformation programs
  • Strong demonstrable skills in: Requirements and process modelling, Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation, Translating technical concepts into business outcomes
  • Experience with security data pipelines (e.g., Cribl, Bindplane)
  • Exposure to next-gen SIEM’s, XDR, SOAR, orchestration and automation platforms
