Build trusted ICT partnerships across a complex university environment

Translate business needs into practical ICT services, solutions and priorities

Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit an ICT Business Partner within Information and Communications Technology. This role will contribute to the delivery of technology initiatives that support one of Australia’s leading universities across education, research and operations.

Why join the University of Sydney?

Join one of Australia’s leading universities at a pivotal time, where technology is evolving to better support student learning, teaching excellence, and research at global scale.

ICT is central to the University’s mission, delivering the platforms, services, and partnerships that enable student success, strengthen teaching, and accelerate research impact.

With strong investment and ambitious transformation underway, you’ll work in a large and complex environment where your contribution will have visible, meaningful impact across the University community.

The opportunity

As ICT Business Partner, you will support the strategic partnership between ICT and key university stakeholders, helping align ICT services, solutions and priorities with business needs. Working across a large education and research environment, you will build trusted relationships, translate business problems into practical ICT requirements, and support the delivery of services and projects that create value for the University.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the University, acting as a key point of contact for ICT services, solutions and projects.
  • Partner with Senior ICT Business Partners to support stakeholder engagement, demand management, planning and ICT-related advice.
  • Help assess and prioritise ICT needs, support business case development, and contribute to the alignment of ICT initiatives with business priorities.
  • Support the delivery of projects, services and initiatives, including tracking progress, identifying issues and escalating where required.
  • Source feedback, identify trends and develop communications that help stakeholders understand ICT initiatives, business impact and expected benefits.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a client-facing ICT role, ideally within a university, education, research or similarly complex ICT environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information and Communications Technology, Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

What’s in it for you?

  • Up to 17% superannuation
  • Generous parental leave entitlements
  • Salary packaging options
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Career development and learning opportunities
  • Health and wellbeing programs, including Fitness Passport
  • Access to a vibrant, globally recognised university community
