The Mount Mercy University College of Nursing & Health Sciences located in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Simulation Assistant to join our Clinical Simulation Lab (CSL) team. This position supports nursing faculty and students by operating simulation equipment, facilitating lab activities, and enhancing the clinical learning environment. The Simulation Assistant plays a vital role in preparing students for professional nursing practice by supporting skill development, critical thinking, communication, and clinical judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate simulation equipment and act as the voice/role of manikins and standardized patients.
• Set up and tear down simulation and skills labs.
• Assist with teaching and supporting skills labs, including respiratory, IV therapy, and competency assessments.
• Maintain manikins, IV pumps, feeding pumps, and other simulation technology.
• Create moulage and prepare medications for lab activities.
• Support faculty with simulation design and provide feedback on student performance.
• Remediate with students on clinical skills as needed.
• Ensure lab areas are cleaned, sanitized, and organized.
• Assist in oversight of work-study students in the CSL.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current Iowa RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Academic and healthcare system experience desirable.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn simulation technology.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
