Social/Clinical Research Specialist

Position Summary/Description

This position directly supports the research endeavors of Kori Flower and Samantha Schilling in General Pediatrics and Adolescent medicine. The Research Specialist will plan and organize multiple research projects and programs within the PI's portfolios. This includes developing goals and objectives for programs and designing program evaluation, as well as direct human subject interaction through recruitment, enrollment, and data collection. The Research Specialist will also assist with data analysis. This position requires working independently to plan and design data collection for multiple, complex studies; preparing publications and related projects. The position also involves organizing and conducting physician education and training efforts, and supervision of staff and students who contribute to these programs.

Education and Experience

Direct experience with the IRB submission processes. Experience with clinical trials, patient recruitment, and retention. Experience with multi-site collaborations. Experience as a coauthor on scientific publications and abstracts. Preferred educational background includes sociology, psychology, or related social science, in addition to coursework in statistics and qualitative research methodology. Preferred experience includes clinical experience working with physicians and families of a variety of backgrounds and the ability to establish rapport quickly with research subjects, including parents and young children.

Essential Skills

The position requires an employee who is able to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision; possesses strong organizational skills; and is skillful at interacting with diverse populations and young children. Required qualifications also include strong communication skills, Spanish fluency, and experience communicating at all levels to include faculty, staff, and leadership, and experience collaborating across multiple-sites on multiple studies.
