Position Description

Seeking qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments, possibly day, evening, weekend, in-person, online, or hybrid. Applications accepted year-round for a pool lasting two years. Currently hiring for in-person sections for Fall Semester 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach Sociology per established course outlines.
  2. Evaluate student work with clear criteria and provide timely feedback.
  3. Maintain accurate records like grades and attendance.
  4. Create an equity-based, welcoming classroom environment.
  5. Perform duties as per Board policy, faculty contract, and Handbook at various locations.

Candidates must teach in-person courses, including at high school locations for dual enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in Sociology; or Bachelor's in Sociology and Master's in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, or Psychology; or equivalent. Commitment to equity, anti-racism, and serving diverse students. Must demonstrate sensitivity to multicultural environments and understanding of diverse student backgrounds. Desirable Qualifications

  1. Teaching experience at community college level.
  2. Use of innovative teaching methods for engagement.
  3. Creating equitable, inclusive materials and practices.
  4. Addressing equity issues and supporting minoritized students.
  5. Experience with computer technology and course management systems.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
  7. Ability to work in a team environment.
