Specialist IV, Admissions and Enrollment
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Specialist IV, Admissions and Enrollment Services is responsible for a wide array of functions within Admissions & Enrollment Services, many of them technical, such as processing admission applications, test scores and transcripts, as well as responding to enrollment issues and maintaining student records, documents and files. Serves as subject matter expert to LSC faculty, staff and administrators on topics related to Admissions & Enrollment Services and is responsible for maintaining data integrity by auditing own work and work of others. Helps ensure that consistent Admissions & Enrollment Services practices are followed throughout Lone Star College System.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to LSC faculty, staff and administrators on topics relating to Admissions & Enrollment Services. Responds to student inquiries in person, by phone and through email
- Provides basic Admissions & Enrollment Services-related training to employees
- Handles all processes related to admissions applications including loading them into the student information system, verifying and updating active and discontinued program/plans in the student information system and ApplyTexas
- Runs technical processes to assign or release service indicators
- Conducts a variety of research, including compiling in-depth summaries of high schools
- Performs auditing functions to ensure and maintain data integrity; works with campuses to troubleshoot and resolve any discrepancies
- Makes a variety of corrections to student records (e.g. social security numbers, grade changes, Bio/Demo data, etc.)
- Receives transcripts and other student record documents and enters data into PeopleSoft (iStar) and scans to OnBase
- May act as lead and delegate the workload of a team
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

- Proficiency in use of standard office equipment and software applications
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to ensure compliance with due dates/deadlines and regulatory requirements
- Ability to transfer knowledge to peers, subordinates and higher authorities
- Ability to work on multiple projects
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or higher
- Experience working in admissions, advising, or financial aid for a higher education institution
Salary
Hiring salary range is $36,057 - $41,466
