Under the supervision of the Preadmission Unit Supervisor, the Principal Admitting Worker is primarily assigned to the Pre-Admit Unit but may rotate or be assigned to any area or site as outlined in the Admitting Department Expectations. The Principal Admitting Worker is responsible for financial clearance of scheduled admissions and surgical procedures, identifying any potential authorization issues that place the patient and/or organization at financial risk. Duties include screening surgical case entries/orders, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, and ensuring authorizations are secured. The Principal Admitting Worker is required to have general knowledge of health insurance plans with an understanding of the authorization process. The Principal Admitting Worker must be able to effectively communicate with physicians/clinic staff, the applicable Medical Center ancillary department, and/or review organization(s) as required, maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

Please note, we are not sponsoring any Visa's at this time. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and this position classification at UCSF. This position is represented by a labor union; placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range for this position is $38.28 to $47.88, depending on relevant experience.
