"Specialist Series - Neurology"

Position Overview

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine, anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and full Specialists in the following fields: Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias, Epilepsy, Neuroepidemiology, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Cognitive Neurology, Quantitative Brain Imaging, Neuromuscular Disease, Neuro-Oncology, Neuropsychology, Pain Management, Sleep, Experimental Therapeutics, Biomarkers and Precision Medicine, and Stroke.

Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Positions are dependent upon extramural funding. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applications are being sought for candidates with strong laboratory research backgrounds and specialized training.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $53,100 - $188,200 annually. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See UC salary scales.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must possess either a BS, MS, PhD, or an MD. Opportunity to publish as an author or co-author on manuscripts will be provided.
• Junior Specialists: Appointees should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) or equivalent research experience.
• Assistant Specialists: Appointees should possess a master's degree (or equivalent) or five years of experience demonstrating expertise.
• Associate Specialists: Appointees should possess a master's degree (or equivalent) or five to ten years of experience, with a record of academic accomplishments.
• Full Specialists: Appointees should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten or more years of experience, with a significant record of academic accomplishments.
