Reporting to the Director of Athletics, and supervised by the Athletic Communications Director, the Sports Information Assistant provides daily athletic communications support and game day coverage. This is a ten (10) month, part-time position.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing game day coverage in areas such as statistic compilation (Presto Stats, Genius-NCAA LiveStats, etc.), public-address announcing, and management/supervision of student employees and their assigned tasks for all home games.
- Assist in the coordination of daily athletic communication tasks/duties such as press releases, website maintenance and upkeep, social media content creation to promote campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, etc.
- Coordinate the setup and breakdown of all home athletic competitions.
- Maintain and support media/credential requests as necessary.
- Assist with record keeping and other long term departmental history projects.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
The Sports Information Assistant is responsible for compliance with Title IX, NCAA, Skyline Conference and SUNY Old Westbury rules and regulations. The Sports Information Assistant is expected to create a positive work environment and mutual support all constituencies and colleagues. The Sports Information Assistant will represent the program with sportsmanship, integrity and a high degree of professionalism. The ideal candidate should be a positive, self-motivated individual with excellent written and communication skills. The successful candidate must have experience with multicultural student body populations. This position requires the ability and willingness to perform evening and weekend work. Professional development opportunities may be available as approved by the Director of Athletics.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in an intercollegiate sports information office. Previous experience may include work as a graduate assistant, intern or student assistant. Proficiency with various software programs including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Suite. Must have experience using statistic programs such as NCAA LiveStats (Genius) and Presto Sports/Stat Crew. Must have and maintain the appropriate valid NYS driver's license and have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
