Posting Description
SR FINANCIAL ASSISTANT, Media Lab, provides complex financial and compliance support for the Media Lab, reviewing, approving, and tracking a wide range of financial transactions and requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key responsibilities include verifying/approving credit card purchases, travel expenses, requisitions, reimbursement submissions, change orders; monitors/resolves compliance issues related to FRC completion, swept credit card charges, unexpensed travel, salary certifications, aged purchase orders, outstanding procurement invoices; reconciles swept charges monthly, prepares recurring compliance reports for swept charges, travel, financial review processes; develops and maintains databases for financial compliance data, analyzes trends, produces ad hoc reports to support policy and process improvements; organizes/leads monthly compliance meetings with finance leadership to present issues, propose solutions, recommend updates to Lab policies and procedures; and drafts and revises compliance-related communications.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; a minimum of five years of administrative or financial support experience, preferably in an academic setting; strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and time management skills; ability to communicate clearly (orally and in writing) with colleagues at all levels; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and electronic storage/filing systems (Google Drive, Dropbox); ability to work independently and within a team; ability to prioritize and work well under the pressure of deadlines; good judgment and the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality; and initiative and desire to help maintain processes and design, develop, and implement innovative solutions. PREFERRED: Thorough knowledge of MIT’s financial policies and procedures; or experience using MIT systems (e.g., B2P/Coupa, Concur, Atlas, SAPgui).
