Staff Clinician-Counseling Center
Job Overview
This position would serve UC Clermont College at the University of Cincinnati and be a member of the Counseling and Psychological Serves (UC-CAPS) team. Under the general supervision from a designated administrator, the staff clinician will provide direct clinical counseling services to onsite and eligible online UC Clermont students. The staff clinician will also develop and provide outreach to the college community and build a supportive community for the academic success and well-being of students.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct counseling services to university students (UC Clermont College), including intake, evaluation, counseling, and emergency/crisis management.
- Provide consultation to university community regarding counseling needs.
- In collaboration with UC Clermont College administration, develop and provide outreach, programs, events, and initiatives to students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve as liaison for the counseling center to the university community and community agencies, specifically, UC Clermont College.
- Participate in training program(s) within the counseling center and UC Clermont College.
- Develop and coordinates programs within the counseling center and UC Clermont College.
- Collect data for program coordination.
- Keep abreast of developments in professional field, related to student mental health, cultural competency, and equitable access to services.
- Represent the department on committees.
- May provide direct or in direct clinical supervision to staff and/or trainees.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Doctorate Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD).
Required Trainings/Certifications
Must be independently licensed or licensed eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or clinical counselor in the State of Ohio, with the ability to supervise in their discipline. License must be achieved within six (6) months of date of employment.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of clinical experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Experience working in a college or university counseling center or other academic environment
- Experience working with two-year or community college students
- Experience working as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Familiarity working with a culturally informed lens
- Familiarity working with underprepared students, first generation students, and students who identify from Appalachian backgrounds
- Familiarity with trauma-informed interventions
- Experience treating substance misuse and addictions
