Physical Requirements: focused physical exams, ability to lay flat
Shift: Shifts of varying length/varying schedules may occur between 7:30am-7pm Monday through Friday (no weekends)
Job Summary:
Standardized Patients are trained to accurately and consistently recreate the history, personality, physical findings, and emotional structure and response pattern of an actual patient at a point in time. Standardized Patients will be physically examined and/or interviewed by students and faculty as part of the student’s learning experience. The Standardized Patient will use measurement tools to assess student behaviors. Standardized Patients will be recorded for teaching and assessment purposes.
- Simulate all aspects of the patient scenario, including history of current problem, affect/behavior and physical findings in a standardized, accurate and reliable manner.
- Uses a case script detailing specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs/symptoms for presentation during simulated learning situations.
- Be physically examined and/or interviewed by students and faculty as part of the student’s learning experience.
- Use measurement tools to assess student behaviors.
- Presents case information in a standardized manner, as elicited by students.
- Remains in a specific patient character as trained when responding to student questions.
- Accurately remembers encounters with students for the purpose of scoring student behaviors.
- Accurately and consistently document skills of learners, using a computer.
- Accept ongoing feedback from supervisor and incorporate that feedback into case simulation.

- Ability to work well with a variety of people.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people.
- Ability to recall an encounter accurately for the completion of checklists and written materials during practice sessions and assessments which result in learner grades.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work independently.
- Punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
- Basic computer skills for email communication, document printing, and checklist documentation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Reliable computer and web-communication skills, including use of Google suite and Microsoft Office products and web conferencing software.
- Ability to read and absorb detailed case information and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to memorize specifics of each case.
