Student Engagement Program Coordinator
Job Description Summary
This role works under the Student Leadership and Engagement Office and with the broader PGCC community to provide a robust campus life experience for all students. Responsible for planning and implementing retention-centered activities, executing programs and events pertaining to Student Engagement and Leadership at the Largo Campus and extension centers. Interact responsibly with the general public by providing information and assistance to advance departmental activities and student services.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree (or higher) in student personnel, education, counseling, behavioral sciences, business management or related field from an accredited institution required
- Three years of experience in a higher education setting required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in working with a diverse population such as minority students, students with disabilities, program development and academic advising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinates and actualizes programs and events with various units/departments/extension centers at the college to support the student experience.
- Processes forms and other documents by reviewing completed forms for accuracy, verifying information, performing necessary actions, and entering data into computer system
- Coordinates activities for students that promote multicultural, inclusiveness, and equity.
- Develops and implements assessment tools to improve and renew programs; benchmarking them against best practices and gathering the data necessary for informed decision-making.
- Engages and mentors’ students in alignment with student development theory and best practices in the field of student affairs.
- Assists with the operations of clubs and organizations and contributions to student publications
- Coordinates, prepares, and disseminates announcements, publications, and other marketing materials related to student leadership opportunities, student clubs and organizations and student activities to the college community.
- Assists in developing, planning, and coordinating of student activities and other special events including but not limited to student/faculty events, recreational activities and student leadership development opportunities.
- Initiates the negotiation of contracts, bids, and rider agreements for Student Engagement and Leadership events. Support social media endeavors.
- Serves on programming committees such as, Student Convocation, Spirit Week, Diversity and Inclusion, Student Leadership Awards Reception, and Pre-Graduation Engagement, etc.
- Creates and implements communication plans for events and activities.
- Offers general student support assistance and triage services. As applicable, learners require staff support with class location, registration, systems navigation, etc.
- Assists in developing and designing various informational and promotional materials and publications to support the Student Engagement and Leadership Office. Role may require travel to other PGCC location for sanctioned events.
- Keeps abreast of the college’s policies and procedures, and accurately communicate and follow the policies and procedures
- Coordinates efforts with Student Engagement and Leadership, Student Success and Engagement Office, and extension centers.
- Attends staff meetings and participate in staff development training
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) by complying with the Clery Act and reporting crime-related information
- Other student support functions as assigned

- Ability to be proficient in the use of computer technology to support departmental activity, e.g., PGMN, Colleague, Microsoft Office products, and GroupWise
- Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills including those delineated in the Student Services Customer Service Skills standards.
- Knowledge in planning and providing support for activities, programs and events.
