Student Hourly - Undergraduate Research Assistant
Position Overview
The KU Department of Sociology is hiring a part-time Undergraduate Research Assistant (UGRA) position in July/August 2026. The UGRA will work on a survey project called the “Aging Needs, Community Health Outcomes, & Resources (ANCHOR) Pilot Study." The UGRA will be responsible for inputting survey data into REDCap from completed surveys that were mailed back from participants in July/August, as well as “cleaning” (checking) for errors in the data entry process. The UGRA will work directly with Prof. Tyler Myroniuk and must have experience programming in Stata (statistical software package) so that the data can be effectively analyzed for peer reviewed manuscripts and future grant proposals. Upon satisfactory completion of research duties and other scientific contributions, the UGRA may get the opportunity to co-author papers from this data.
Job Description
- 40% - Data entry and cleaning.
- 30% - Literature review and summaries.
- 20% - Meetings with Prof. Myroniuk and other study investigators.
- 10% - Data analyses.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Stata, as evidenced by application materials.
- Communication and writing skills, as evidenced by application materials.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
