The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The School of Nursing seeks one Columbia University student to assist with secondary analysis of the MIGHTy-Heart study dataset, a federally funded research project comparing mobile integrated health versus transitions of care coordination for heart failure patients. This position will support data cleaning, organization, and machine learning analysis to identify patients most likely to benefit from the intervention. The student will work with multimodal data including electronic health records, patient reported outcomes, and claims data.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and organizing multimodal datasets including EHR data, patient reported outcomes, and claims data
  • Conducting statistical analyses and data visualizations
  • Maintaining documentation of analytical methods and findings
  • Engaging with clinical stakeholders to understand decision support tool use cases and workflow requirements
  • Assist in designing and assessing feasibility of clinical decision support tools for Epic integration based on stakeholder input and research aims
  • Participating in research meetings
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

This is a temporary position with a flexible work schedule. This is a grant funded position and continued employment is contingent upon the grant.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and database entry/management skills
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python
  • Interest in clinical research projects, cardiovascular disease, patient reported outcomes, and/or health informatics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Epic and clinical decision support tools
  • Experience engaging with clinical stakeholders and understanding clinical workflows
  • Experience working with electronic health records data
  • Master's degree in a related field (completed or in progress)
