Your opportunity

As our Student Support Project Coordinator (Safety and Wellbeing) within Student Support and Success, you will lead the implementation of the University’s student safety and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention initiatives. This role is critical to meeting national legislative requirements and driving evidence-based prevention, response and reporting frameworks that strengthen safety across our campuses and online environments.You will make an impact by:

  • In collaboration with the Manager Counselling (Safety and Wellbeing), developing and implementing the Southern Cross University student safety action plans and initiatives with a strong focus on prevention and response to GBV Prevention & Response Plan 2026–2030, complying with legislative requirements.
  • Designing and delivering prevention campaigns, programs, mandatory training modules and wellbeing initiatives
  • Leading projects to enhance student safety and coordinating student risk management systems, disclosure pathways and safety planning processes
  • Developing executive-level reporting and continuous improvement measures to ensure compliance and sector best practice

What you will bring

You are an experienced safety and wellbeing professional with strong expertise in gender-based violence prevention and response. You bring a trauma-informed, risk-aware approach and are confident leading initiatives independently while engaging diverse stakeholders across complex environments.To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, health promotion, mental health or a risk/safety related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience implementing GBV prevention and response initiatives or organisational student safety action plans
  • A sound understanding of national legislative and compliance frameworks relating to student safety in higher education.
  • Experience in risk assessment, safety planning and managing disclosures sensitively and appropriately
  • Strong project management, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience using elearning/risk/CRM systems

It would be highly regarded if you have experience in university settings, domestic and family violence services, or established networks within the GBV prevention sector.

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Gold Coast, QLD 4225. Regular travel between campuses will be required. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities
  • HEW Level 6. The base salary ranges from $95,961 – $105,250 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $123,143.
